Megan’s Way Out Becomes Official in the City of Stow.

Sep 14, 2025 | Megan's Way Out

On Thursday, September 11, 2025, Megan’s Way Out was unanimously approved by the Stow City Council with a vote of 6-0. The official ordinance is listed below:

2025-142 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF C.O.S., PARTICULARLY TO ADD SECTION 1145.15 C.O.S., ENTITLED “SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS FOR DRIVE-THRU FACILITIES,” TO INCLUDE BYPASS LANE REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL DRIVE-THRU FACILITIES IN THE CITY.

This ordinance helps create a safe environment in all drive-thrus. We are thankful to the City of Stow for working with us and taking the initiative to allow everyone the ability to exit a drive-thru no matter the circumstances. Ambulances will have access to a vehicle, allowing EMS workers to quickly administer life-saving procedures to a driver or passenger.

We hope this will prevent another tragic event from happening in a drive-thru. We are looking forward to working with other communities to adopt Megan’s Way Out. Our goal is to make Megan’s Way Out a state law, and we want to have conversations with state politicians. Please contact your state representative and your state senator, giving them reasons for making Megan’s Way Out a state law.

This is a great first step on a long journey. We truly appreciate everyone’s support!
